News Approval

Approval

Approval is required for all types of characters. The general requirements are: Background, description, age, short description, position, alias, gender, and +info. All characters should enter "CharGen" from the OOC Room and follow the instructions there to set the necessary information on themselves. ALL INFORMATION SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR SPELLING AND GRAMMAR BEFORE SUBMISSION.

More detailed information is found in:

News App Impression
News App Crafter
News App Rider
News App Resident
News App Feature

When you submit for approval, you will be entered into a program prompting you for certain information. To read the list of questions you'll be asked, read "News App Questions."

App Questions

To view the list of questions each "class" will be asked, please read the following:

News App IM Questions : Impression Characters
News App CR Questions : Crafters
News App RI Questions : Riders
News App RE Questions : Residents

App Impression

Impression characters are those who wish to Impress on-camera. The character does not have to begin as a candidate, and usually will not unless IC search is very near at the time of approval. Impression characters need to be aware of the following:

1. Bronzerider Impressions are considered features. Read "News App Feature" before submitting for this kind of character.

2. ALL female Impressions are considered features. Read "News App Feature" before submitting for this kind of character.

3. Players are limited to a single color choice for Impression. Although "any" is an option, players who select any will not be considered for a bronze/gold Impression.

4. Characters searched from outside the Weyr are considered feature characters. Read "News App Feature" before submitting for this kind of character.

5. Before you apply for an Impression character, read +bbread 4. If there is a post there looking for Impression characters, make sure the color you want is available. If there is not a post there looking for Impression characters, then they are not being accepted currently.

Please read "News Search" for information about how search is handled.

6a. If you have any info to enter about your dragon's personality (a specific inspiration or a general personality) or anything specific about their description, please enter it here.
6b. Is the information you submitted above correct?

App Crafter

Crafter characters are limited to Journeymen. Please be aware that, at the present, the Weyr has very few posted Crafters. Most Crafters at the Weyr have been assigned there because they are either sub-par (not up to the standards or a real assignment) or are being punished.

When creating a Crafter character, please check "+roster crafter." If there is one or more active character from the Craft you wish to play on that roster, you will likely not be approved.

If a Crafter character idles out ("news idle"), they may be kept as an NPC, listed as adoptable, or written off-camera by staff.

App CR Questions

1. Have you read "News Approval?"

2. Have you proofread your character?

3. Have you read "News App Feature?"
3b. Has your concept been approved?

4. For what craft are you applying?

5. For what rank are you applying?

App Rider

In order to have an insta-rider approved, make sure to follow the instructions in CharGen to create and finalize a dragon object.

Please read "News Approval Feature" if you plan to apply for any of the following:

1. Ranking riders: Weyrleader, Wingleaders, Weyrlingmaster, etc. Check "+bbread 4" to see if any of these positions are open before you apply for one.

2. Bronzerider.

3. Female dragonrider (both goldriders and chromatic riders).

4. Riders who Impressed at Weyrs other than Fort. Most insta-riders should be from Fort Weyr. Please view http://community.livejournal.com/fortweyrmush/21011.html for a list of clutches (PC and NPC) in order to age a dragon appropriately.

App RI Questions

1. Have you read "News Approval?"

2. Have you proofread your character?

3. Is this a feature character?
3a. Have you had your concept approved?

4. Have you followed the instructions in "+help dragon"?

App Resident

All residents of the Weyr must have a job of some sort. The Weyr maintains a very small support staff at this time - 100 compared to the 2000 it can support during a full Pass - and all members are workers. Very few children are still raised at the Weyr, generally those of dragonriders who do not have jobs outside the Weyr, and those of ranking residents such as the Headwoman or the stablemaster.

Please read "News Approval Feature" if you plan to apply for any of the following:

1. Ranking residents: Headwoman, stablemaster, head cook, etc. If a job is the "head" of any department, it is considered ranking.

2. Non weyrbred: If a character was born outside the Weyr, they need a good reason to have moved to the Weyr.

3. Child: PCs under the age of 14 are generally not accepted without a very good reason.

App RE Questions

1. Have you read "News Approval?"

2. Have you proofread your character?

3. Is this a feature character?
3a. Have you read "News App Feature"?
3b. Has your concept been approved?

4. For what position are you applying? This should be your "official" title, e.g. Stablehand, Headwoman, Seamstress, etc.
4b. You entered "". Is this correct?

App Feature

1. Feature characters are expected to put in at least one scene per week - approximately 3-5 hours per week.

2. All features need to submit a CONCEPT prior to writing a character. The concept doesn't need to be long. Use "+request feature=" in order to submit a concept. Please check the Feature Character room in CharGen for more information on concepts.

3. All features are nominally the property of the game. If a feature leaves the game, the fate of the character is left up to the staff to decide - in order to maintain consistency. Players can request certain endings for their characters, but staff makes the final judgment as behooves the ongoing story.

4. All features are considered "adoptable." Certain features may be kept and reassigned to new players or played as NPCs by staff.</center>
